The learner will be able to use layers to create an image that combines the two photos of the beach.

1. Open GIMP
2. Click File then New
3. Select a width of 800 and a height of 600
4. Copy and paste the picture of the flowers
5. Click File then New
6. Select a width of 800 and a height of 600
7. Copy and paste another copy of the picture of the flowers
8. On the menu at the top select Image then Mode
9. Select grayscale
10. Copy and paste the grayscale picture over the color picture.
11. Use the eraser  tool to erase the gray from the flowers.
